Today we would like to talk about an unusual automotive sector: Caterpillar was planning to create an innovative service center in Finland! The American brand, leader in the mining and earthmoving machinery sector, had very special requirements.
WORKY project manager, together with the local dealer, had to design an exhaust extraction system for heavy-duty applications. The temperature to consider (and we are not referring to the weather) was very high; therefore, it was necessary to use a high-temperature hose, diam. 200mm, resistant up to 700°.
Keeping into consideration the overhead crane, the chosen solution was GERT20015: an electric hose reel with remote control, developed by WORKY’s engineers for heavy-duty applications. All the hose reels in the workshop were served by a centralized fan, connected to an electric switch board equipped with inverter for energy saving.
WORKY feels very involved in environmental issues and operating costs reduction is a very important matter.
After a careful technical analysis, the technical fluids distribution system, including waste oils, was designed: WORKY project manager selected the correct pumps, piping, and a safety system that stops the pumps when the oil is finished. Thanks to light towers indicating the tanks oil level, the service manager can have the oil room totally under control.
As a final step, a compressed air distribution ring with drops for an easy connection, was designed.
Once the project was completed, Caterpillar service center had efficient and highly performing systems: a guarantee for workshop safety and productivity.
